Brain tumors are often found adjacent to critical structures such as the brain stem, optic nerves, cranial nerves and orbits. Conventional and 3-D Conformal Radiation are often associated with excessive over treatments of these critical structures. IMRT offers sophisticated solutions to these problems by selecting priorities within the treated area. This is done with Inverse Treatment Planning Solutions. Dose volume histograms allow us to optimize the treatment plans.
